Ottawa Valley Deck Built

I am in the Ottawa Valley and have a contractor building my deck.

It is framed with pressure treated pine lumber and finished in local eastern white cedar. The lower deck sits on sono-tube concrete piers and the deck is almost 400 square feet. with stairs built into it on an angle.

The upper deck off the master bedroom is 100 square feet and supported also by sono-tube and pilaster. Remember this is cedar and a pressure treated framed deck. The railings are built as a privacy fence style with framed plastic lattice on the top for a nice visual appearance. The lower deck skirt is cedar lattice. Also included is the landscaping fabric and crushed stone under deck. Also this included all material and labor.

I had three prices from very good contractors. one was $9830.00 GST included. Another was $10500.00 GST included and the other was $11500.00 GST included. This also included wiring for two lights and two electrical outlets.

I went with the $10500.00 bid because the lower contractor could not deliver on my time frame. This works out to $20.00 per square foot plus tax. Very reasonable considering the average for Ontario is $19.00 square foot as per the other information on this site.
