As a contractor in Grande Prairie, Alberta, this is what we would charge for a typical 8 x 14 deck. It's built on 12"x6' concrete piles with a 3'6" square landing.

The stair stringers are cut and built on site with about 8 treads placed on a patio block landing below with 6" of gravel. The ledger lag bolted into building, replace siding with "j" channel and drip edge around ledger.

We mitered the corners on all exposed corners of joist, used a wrap around 5/4 x 5" border with all of the appropriate fasteners. Then we installed metal handrailing.

This would be about $2800 labour and the materials would be up to the owner with contractor pricing of course.
