The Titan Post Anchor for 6x6 posts have been performing great!
Our latest anchor takes the internal anchoring concept to its next logical level. If you thought the 4x4 anchor worked well, you are going to be more impressed with the 6x6 anchor.
The Titan 6x6 anchor has been used all over the country (US and Canada) and on some pretty high profile jobs that were specified by engineers and architects.
The 6x6 anchor was used by the National Capital Commission in Ottawa, Canada for a restoration project of the historic residence in Gatineau Park of former Canadian Prime Minister MacKenzie King.
It's also been used in a public works project in Buffalo, New York using Ipe wood posts. Ipe is one tough material but the 6x6 Titan was up for the challenge.
Engineering Testing
We just completed independent engineering testing on them according to AC 273 testing procedures. The average load to failure of a 42" 6x6 pt pine post has been determined at 503 lbs.
Keep in mind we tested a single unsupported post to the standards set out in AC 273 which are intended to be done with two posts and a rail section to simulate a real rail. So we know that when properly built in to a rail it will perform very well.
So the 6x6 post anchor has surpassed the design and safety factor thresholds set out in the International Building Code.
Our engineering program is ongoing and we expect to have downloadable engineering tables specifying post spacing in the coming months. It will also include testing on full rail sections building upon our body of testing data. Feel free to contact us to obtain a copy of our latest report.
