Installing The Titan on Concrete
The Titan Post Anchor is most commonly used for wood or other similar soft deck surfaces. However the anchor installs very effectively on concrete surfaces.
There are a variety of concrete fastening systems that may be used however the simplest and most effective as well as the best looking are concrete screws which install into predrilled holes.
Some common concrete fasteners are those made by Tapcon, GRK Fasteners and FastenMaster.
I sell the Caliburn Pan Head concrete screws made by GRK which are second to none and have over 2100 lbs of pull out power per screw.
Working with concrete is demanding and there is no room for error. So follow these instructions when installing onto concrete.
Instructions for a Fail Safe Concrete Application
Step 1
Use an anchor (without an attached post) as a template. Place the anchor on the concrete exactly where you wish the post to be.
Step 2
Using the special drill bit supplied with each package of Caliburn PH screws, hold the anchor securely and use the holes in the anchor to guide the drill bit into the concrete.
Step 3
Drill down ½” deeper than the length of the screw. Do this for all eight holes. Repeat this process for each post position.
Step 4
Attach the anchors to the posts and drive each screw through the anchor base and into the pre-drilled hole in the concrete.
If you wish to protect against water entering the drill holes which freeze in the winter and crack the concrete you can use our Gasket Kits which work very well for this application to extend the life of the concrete.
So that’s all there is to installing the Titan on concrete.
