Hot Tub Wiring - General Tips
Connecting your hot tub wiring to your electrical panel is best left to an electrician. Hooking up the hot tub wiring to your house tub is not particularly complicated.
If you have some basic wiring knowledge you could do it yourself
but for most people the simplest solution is to hire an electrician
to hook up to your main electrical box in your home.
You will probably have to cut a small hole through your foundation and that requires a special drill bit and hammer drill to make the job go quickly. From there, the electrician connects a 220 volt wire to the your box and runs it out the hole in the foundation.
What you can do to save money is lay out the conduit from the foundation to the location of the hot tub. The conduit should sit on a bed of sand and be covered with sand as well for easy access in the event of a repair.
The conduit doesn't have to be set very deep but it is very important to record its location so that someone else doesn't cut into it in the future.
Using a conduit allows you easy access to pull out the wire or replace it without having to dig it up or cut away any concrete or patio stones that may lay overtop of it.
