Covering joists with #15 felt paper

I am in process of building attached deck. I am using Trex Transend with hidden fasteners. I have the framing done and starting to lay decking. I would like to hide joists where Trex gaps are and thought if I covered the top of the joists with 15# felt this would add protection to joist and also hide the gap better than just the joist.

I am cutting the felt only to cover the joist top. I haven't heard of anyone doing this is this OK to do?
