Coolest Backyard Deck Contest - 2008 Winner

Thanks to all who participated in our First Annual Coolest Backyard Deck Contest.

Your pictures and stories were just great. I love seeing the passion and hard work that every day people are willing to put into improving their little piece of the world – their back yards.

After reviewing all the votes and also the nature of the work involved to create these beautiful structures, it came down to two that caught most people’s imagination.

These two decks really embodied the creativity and craftsmanship deserving of first place.

But a winner had to be selected...

This year’s winner was Ryan Brazeal, of Lumsden, Saskatchewan for his design concept of curves and straight lines and attention to detail. Congratulations you will receive a $500 Home Depot gift certificate.

And even though I said there was only one prize, I am going back on my word, for the benefit of the runner up in this year’s contest.

The entry by Brian Oostenbrink from Burnaby, BC was also of such high caliber that I just thought it had to win something.
